花見 (Hanami)

花見 (Hanami)

Springtime in Japan means one thing … hanami!

I never realized that so many of the trees in this nation were cherry trees.  In Spring for about 1.5 weeks they explode into beautiful white and pink flowers.  It’s like the world turns infrared (if you’ve ever seen any of the white trees in my infrared photography.)

It’s amazing, it’s beautiful, it’s beyond anything I’ve seen in the U.S.  It’s so wonderful to go out and have a picnic under the cherry blossoms with friends or family, or your girlfriend :-3

I live in a normal town in a normal part of Kyuushuu and these are just snapshots taken from near where I live.  I never imagined that I would live in such a beautiful place after living in the grey city of Pittsburgh for many years.

  1. I had to comment on these beautiful pics. I have never seen the cherry trees so perfect. It almost makes me feel as if I am there. I am origionaly from Pittsburgh and yes i agree it’s gloomy so stay where you are and enjoy the wonderful scenery. I wish I could be there with you.
