This is considered one of Japan’s three most scenic places. The “floating” torii of Miyajima (Itsukushima is it’s proper name, but everyone calls it Miyajima.)
This is a torii constructed out in the water between mainland and the island of Miyaima where there is a large, famous shinto shrine. I don’t know how many centuries it has been there, but I believe it has been rebuilt 7 times in it’s history. It is definitely worth seeing. I wish I had more time to photograph it. I will definitely return there to see it again in the future. As a lover of shinto shrines it was quite inspiring for me.
