While returning to the station after a weekend trip to Nagasaki, the sun was low and the shiny reflections on the rails of the overpass were great. I had a few frames left in my vintage twin-lens reflex, but little time to capture this so I guessed at the exposure and took the shot in a hurry. I WAY overexposed it. The film frame is almost solid black, yet I was able to get this out of it.
I wondered if this wasn’t what it looked like in Nagasaki at the moment the nuclear bomb went off. I wonder if a forgotten memory didn’t decide to make itself remembered though my camera that day.
